I gonna do a experiment now. I be watchin’ a movie and blogging at the same time. I be the Queen of new multimedia and futuristic technologies!
The movie is about some dude Thomas Crown. He is super rich and likes paintings. He steals some painting and then Denis Leary tries to cetch him. Denis Leary won’t cetch him cos he is an Asshole A-S-S-H-O-L-E.
Rene Russo comes along and tries to be sexy for a while, then Pierce Brosnan struts around looking richer and better than you ever will. Then they all go and get ice cream and laugh about old times.
Maybe I be gonna do this for a living from now on!

Our favourite new haunt, the Prince Charles Cinema of Leicester Square, hosted us on Sunday for an Irish film festival which mostly consisted of miserable little Irish people flashing their rotten teeth and talking about their mothers’ breasts and how much they like potatoes. After that, we were treated to a screening of “The Wind that Shakes the Barley”, quite a nice little film portraying the lovely story of Irish people shooting each other in the heart.
I enjoyed most of the afternoon but was scolded by a lady next to me, who tersely requested that I “please stop with the rustling of the chips” - a near impossible task when one holds deliciously crunchy salt & vinegar chips which defiantly and autocratically insist on rustling. Not since the great lower yourself incident of February 2007 have I felt more like snapping the neck of a fellow cinema-goer.

I have no time to blog because I am reading a real horrorshow book, O my brothers. It is a malenky story about a young malchickiwick not unlike myself who likes a bit of ultra-violence and the old in-out-in-out, as we all do in the nochy. Our poor little droog finds himself in a real vonny mesto surrounded by starry vecks in white coats trying to like mess with his gulliver. There is tolchocking and plenty of the red red red krovvy to go around for us all, my little droogies, yes yes there is, or my name isn’t Your Friend and Humble Narrator.

Somewhere in the crowded, huddled masses of this gargantuan city I’ve managed to pick up some kind of stinking cold. Fortunately it’s too bad, not like the bird flu or anything. But it’s still annoying.
Major development on the job front, I might be working at some prestigious college in London for some ridiculous amount of money per hour, editing their website. Interview today. I like the sound of this job, although I won’t learn as much as if I worked for this other dude. (The one that builds super cool ecommerce websites). He is being a big slack-arse though and hasn’t called me, so his loss I guess.
While watching Little Miss Sunshine (pretty good movie) at the Prince Charles theatre last night this foreign dude sitting behind me (oh wait, I am a foreign dude) asked me if I could “lower myself”. WTF? Lower myself? Go sit somewhere else, dickhead. I’m not going to contort my body for you when there are plenty of other seats. Wanker.

Last year I unleashed my favourite books / films / albums of the year upon the world in the 2005 Afe Awards. It was so totally amazingly excellent that I decided to do it again, right now.
Here are the rules. It’s favourite discoveries from the year, regardless of release date.
Movie

Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope (1948) had me by the balls from start to finish, both times I watched it. I watched some pretty bloody good Hitchcock films this year (in fact I watched some pretty incredible films overall) but this was the best. Fascinating story, excellent acting, and a very interesting theme. Jimmy Stewart is der bomb. Technically I think I watched this back in 1997 when I was studying film at Uni but I wasn’t paying attention back then. They also made me watch Citizen Kane and I thought it was shithouse, so my taste has definitely changed since then.
Runner-up for my film of the year is The Philadelphia Story (1940). Yeah, I’m a sucker for old movies, especially if they have Jimmy Stewart in them. The weird-arse trip out Korean movie Oldboy was also in the running.
Book

This is a close one because I think I only read about seven or so books this year. I should be ashamed of myself. Bram Stoker’s Dracula was good, but I think I’ll give the Afe Award to J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye. What an interesting book. Nothing really seemed to happen but it was still fascinating. I’m not kidding.
Album
This was a very good year for me in music. Apart from discovering Bob Dylan I’ve found three albums which I’d now consider to be in my top ten of all time:
Augie March released their third LP, Moo, You Bloody Choir. It’s not their best album, but by Augie standards that still means top notch quality music. They’re still a relatively young band, yet to prove themselves with a couple more albums, but they are certainly the best Australian band. I’d still rate Radiohead as the best active band today though. U2 can lick my balls.
Slightly better than the Augie release came Sufjan Stevens’ colourful folk-pop masterpiece, Come on feel the Illinoise. I’m still not sick of this album. It makes me happy, and sometimes sad. I still make love to it occasionally, too.

But my true favourite of the year is Elliott Smith’s XO. Forget about the skip button, you can just stick this baby in and let it play. The guy was a genius. ‘Nuff said.
Hope you enjoyed this year’s Afe awards. Please return next year and I promise to give you large slices of chocolate cake. Feel free to leave your own favourite books / albums etc. of the year in the comments section. It’s fun, I promise.

Yea, I watched Flags of our Fathers last night. What a boring piece of crap. Somehow I knew it was coming. Somehow I knew it all along. Let me just add girly-boy Ryan Philippe to my shit-list.
Much more interesting was our 4-year anniversary getaway. We stayed at a nice hotel, ate at a fancy restaurant, drank inordinately expensive alcomohol from the bar fridge. It was a totally rad weekend, and now I feel replenished. But now I have to go back to work! Not cool!
We also found the right sleeping bags for our big trip, which we will probably buy later this month. I really wanted to spend $300 on a proper goose down sleeping bag, but unfortunately finances would not allow me to fulfil my fantasty. Unfulfilled fantasies make me so angry inside!
I have also been thinking about getting a tattoo. I would like a decent sized one, perhaps on the inside of my upper arm. I would be so hot with a tattoo, you wouldn’t believe it. I thought a cheap tattoo in Thailand would be a good idea but Trish keeps nattering something about Hepatitis C.

There are so many things I’m supposed to be doing right now, but I couldn’t be bothered. Nothing but blogging will do right now. I choose YOU. Because you are beautiful, and sexy.
I am a bit sick. Just a sore throat, unfortunately nothing bad enough to stay home for. I got ripped!
I watched Syriana last night. It had a bearded George Clooney. And Matt Damon. And some guys in sheets. They were talking about stuff. Important stuff. Something to do with the desert. I have a suspicion it would have been a good movie if I hadn’t been falling asleep during the second half. It was a heavy duty film, not recommended when you’re tired and sick.
Here’s a picture of a donkey, which can be much more entertaining when you’re tired.

Ha ha! Donkey, you crack me up. Will you ever change your crazy ways?

I got sick of Grace Kelly, so now I have this photo as my desktop wallpaper. I can’t get any work done. It’s very distracting, because I really like ice cream. Bring me ice cream now.
Last night I watched Aeon Flux, holy shit that is a bad movie! I’ve crapped out better movies than that. I was very disappointed. Charlize is hot hot hot, but it didn’t make me feel much better. I was ANGER!
Did you notice that I’m making good use of italics in this post? Did you see what I did there? It was clever, wasn’t it? Italics are a good way of subtly empasising a particular word in a sentence. If you are feeling a little less subtle, use bold writing. This indicates that you have the shits, just a little bit. If you really have a serious case of the shits, you should use CAPITAL LETTERS.
And so today is the ends of a special lesson on its most amazing correctest grammars and stuff!
AWESOME!
